Welcome to LukeMcReynolds.com!
This is my place to put stuff online so I won't forget it, show the world that I can make a decent website, and share my thoughts with family and friends. It's also a place for me to share Linux/web development tips and tricks with the world at large, and a place for me to post pictures of my cat. If you don't know me and would like to, please get in touch with me - I'll try to respond right away.
Destination 1111 Fashion Show
Me, Lauren, Angie and Daniel went to Destination 1111 this Saturday night. It was pretty cool: there was some really good art (some not so good), and the buildings themselves - converted warehouses - were sweet. My friend Lisa Koskela had some art showing (that was some of the good art), so we saw her exhibit and browsed the other stuff. Recommended: Jim Gebbon's stuff. I love the toy photos.
Anyway, here's a video of part of the fashion show.
Most of the actual fashions themselves were rather uninspired, I thought. I loved the high-waisted pants towards the beginning of the show, though - I didn't get video of them, however. Regardless of the actual fashion, though, it was fun seeing my first fashion show. :-)
Sorry about the video flipping sideways 3/4 of the way through - I'll re-edit the video when I have time.

God’s Country
So, Bud sold out to the Belgians, and Pabst Brewing Co. is now the largest American-owned brewer in the United States.
For you and I, I don’t think this will mean a whole lot, but I think we’ll see a lot more sites like this:
Pabst owns Old Style, and boy are they rubbing their American-ness in everyone’s face.

Cool Bus
Daniel and I went canoeing up in Newaygo yesterday, on the Muskegon River w/ at Wisner Canoes. The canoeing itself was great, but I especially liked their busses.

New Construction Downtown
So, there’s some (even more) new construction downtown. It’s front and central, right on the corner of Fulton and Division. Here’s the sign on the corner:

I’m excited: new construction downtown is always nice. The UICA totally needs a new building, too…

Books
I suppose one of the good things about dropping out of law school is getting to sell all your old books.

Update on Dreamhost Hosting
I’m one of dozens of tens of thousands of people who use Dreamhost to host their sites. I’ve had their super-cheap $7/month plan for about a year and a half now, and it’s always worked out well for me. I’ve been aware of their failings in the past, but the problems that affected seemingly everyone else never affected me.
Then, I started doing more and more Gallery stuff.

You Learn Something New Every Day
So, I learned something interesting about my last name on Wikipedia the other day. I had always thought that the “Mc” prefix of my last name meant “Son of.” That’s the traditional meaning of the abbreviation of “Mac.”
(Incidentally, the McReynolds last name is properly—as in technically, but nobody ever uses it—spelled
with a superscript, underlined “c”.)

So, I’ve Got a New Website
Any thoughts, questions? Ideas for new stuff?
The purpose of this site is for me to bone up on my ExpressionEngine skills again, and to finally do something with the domain name that I had sitting around. Then, I decided that I might as well have fun with it, and make the site in to something personal and meaningful. Hopefully I’ve succeeded.
